Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J, and his wife Nadine Menendez have been indicted by a grand jury in New York.

Bribery charges are slated to be unsealed against the Foreign Relations Committee Chair at 11:00 a.m.

The New Jersey senator has been the subject of a years-long Justice Department investigation into allegations of corruption and bribery.

A copy of the indictment shows that the Menendezes are charged with engaging in "a corrupt relationship with three New Jersey associates and businessmen."

The couple is accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for the senator using his influence to the benefit of the businessmen and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The bribes took the form of cash, gold and other assets. Over $480,000 in cash was found in the Menendez home.

The prosecution charges that the Menendezes had several meetings with Egyptian officials in 2018 at which "requests related to foreign military sales and foreign military financing" were raised.

"In exchange for MENENDEZ’s and NADINE MENENDEZ’s promise that MENENDEZ would, among other things, use his power and authority to facilitate such sales and financing to Egypt, HANA promised, among other things, to put NADINE MENENDEZ on the payroll of his company in a low-or-no-show job," the indictment states.
