Santos Shares Sentiment After Witnessing AOC Moment: ‘We May Be in Different Teams But We’re All NY’

Earlier this week, the congressman called Ocasio-Cortez his 'inspiration' to get into politics

Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., on Thursday posted a sentimental message to fellow New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D, after seeing her meet with students.

"@AOC met some youngsters from my district and shook their hands on her way into the Capitol. Some of these students are aspiring leaders and were so moved to see her that they cried," Santos posted to X, formerly known as Twitter. "We may be in different teams but we’re all NY. It was a beautiful moment, thank you.

This isn't the first time Santos has offered words of praise to Ocasio-Cortez. Earlier this week, the congressman called her his "inspiration" to get into politics.

“AOC was my inspiration, most people don’t know that,” Santos told CNN’s Manu Raju in an interview. “I always thought you needed to be a Kennedy, a Bush or a Clinton to be in politics. Then Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is there and it’s like, look, she’s a scrappy girl.”

Ocasio-Cortez is among the Democrats who voted to expel Santos from his congressional seat in a recent failed House vote, which arose over Santos' recent criminal indictment. She has previously slammed him for having "lied to the American people, lied to the United States House of Representatives, lied to congressional investigators."
