House Republicans quickly criticized Hunter Biden pleading guilty to federal charges Tuesday, arguing the president’s son received a “sweetheart deal” from prosecutors.

Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), who is leading the House GOP probe into Hunter Biden, said the deal revealed a "two-tiered system of justice" and would have no impact on his investigation.

"Hunter Biden is getting away with a slap on the wrist when growing evidence uncovered by the House Oversight Committee reveals the Bidens engaged in a pattern of corruption, influence peddling, and possibly bribery," Comer said.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), who is on the House Oversight Committee, teased "more serious charges to come."

The adult son of President Joe Biden is charged with two counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax and one firearm offense, according to documents filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.

He has agreed to plead guilty to the two tax counts, and also agreed to enter a pretrial diversion agreement on the firearms offense, according to a letter from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said that the plea deal showed a "two-tier system in America."

"If you are the president's leading political opponent, the DOJ tries to literally put you in jail and give you prison time," McCarthy said. "If you are the president's son, you get a sweetheart deal."

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), the number four Republican in the chamber, said the GOP would "not rest until the full illegal corruption of the Biden Crime Family is exposed."

Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) said Hunter Biden was getting the deal by virtue of being the president’s son.

“Biden’s DOJ is treating Hunter w/ kid gloves, giving him a deal that only the President’s son could receive,” Hern said on Twitter.

Hunter Biden has been a popular target of Republicans even before Joe Biden entered the White House, with the personal struggles and financial issues of the president’s son frequently being highlighted by the GOP in the 2020 campaign.

The news of Hunter Biden’s plea deal comes after former President Donald Trump last week was arraigned on federal charges stemming from his alleged mishandling of classified information.

“A slap on the wrist for Hunter Biden while “The Big Guy” continues to hunt down his top political opponent,” Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) said. “This doesn’t show equal justice. It’s a mockery of our legal system by a family that has no respect for our laws.”

“It’s no coincidence that less than a week after President Trump is arraigned by the DOJ, Hunter Biden is pleading guilty to a sweetheart deal with no jail time,” added Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) on Twitter.
