Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Mi., filed a motion to censure on Tuesday to censure Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., who pulled a fire alarm in the House side of the Capitol during a vote.

A video shows Bowman taking signs off the doors and pulling the fire alarm in what looked like an attempt to delay the House vote on a stopgap bill back in late September, when a possible government shutdown was looming.

He pleaded guilty to one count of willfully and knowingly pulling a fire alarm, which is a misdemeanor.

McClain introduced a motion to censure him, claiming he "forced the evacuation" of House members and "disrupted the work of Congress as a vote was under way on the floor of the House."

"Now, therefore, be it resolved that the house of representatives censures Jamaal Bowman," McClain said on the House floor.

In her three-page resolution, she also says pulling the fire alarm was a "theatrical attempt to cause panic, therefore endangering the safety and well-being of members of the House."

She could now force a House vote to censure Bowman, but it's not clear if she has the votes to achieve the censure.
