Rep. Nancy Mace Fundraising Off Vote to Oust McCarthy

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., is fundraising off her vote to oust Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Fla., from the House speakership.

"I came here to take difficult votes and do the right thing, regardless of the pressure and regardless of the threats," Mace said in a statement sent out to supporters on Tuesday. "We need a fresh start so we can get back to the people’s business free of these distractions."

Mace joined with seven other Republicans — including Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who introduced the motion to vacate — and House Democrats to oust McCarthy.

The South Carolina Republican previously criticized Gaetz for fundraising off his attempts to remove McCarthy from House leadership.
