Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, R, on Thursday criticized House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., after the GOP leader made comments praising the work of this Congress so far.

"No vote on Term Limits No vote on a balanced budget No plan to have individual appropriations bills considered No full release of J6 tapes No spending cut to raise the Debt Limit. Trump has been charged with 91 counts. We haven’t even subpoenaed Hunter Biden - or any Biden for that matter. I know it is the tendency of political leaders to self-preen, but the truth is that while some GOP House work has made positive reforms - it isn’t good enough. Not even close, actually. We are going to have to seize the initiative and make some changes," Gaetz wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, in response to a post from McCarthy that said the current Congress was the most "productive" than any in recent history.

Gaetz's list included a number of policies that Congress that conservatives have wanted to address, including term limits, a balanced budget and spending cuts to raise the debt limit. A number of these issues were part of the negotiations McCarthy promised the Republican Party during negotiations that led to him being named Speaker.

Gaetz's criticism also included what he sees as a lack of action towards the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden and President Joe Biden, while former President Donald Trump has been charged with a number of counts and is now to face trial.
