Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., on Thursday blasted GOP members celebrating Hunter Biden's indictment on gun charges, saying they'd be "calling for Second Amendment rallies all over the country" if the charges were against anyone other than Hunter Biden.

"I think our Republican colleagues would probably be demanding that the charges be dropped if it were for almost any other American. They don't believe in gun charges," Raskin told reporters outside the Capitol. "They would be trying to turn him into some kind of Second Amendment martyr."

Hunter Biden was indicted Thursday on charges related to a 2018 firearms purchase — one count of possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance, and two counts alleging he made false statements in the course of purchasing the gun.

Raskin mentioned the reactions would be different if Jared Kushner, former President Donald Trump's son-in-law, was the one facing the same charges.

"At this point, can you imagine if Jared Kushner were arraigned on gun charges, they would be calling for Second Amendment rallies all over the country right now," Raskin said. "And all the Democrats are saying is let's let the rule of law and the justice system work."

The Maryland representative also called the GOP reaction to the Thursday indictment "jubilation and celebration" while on an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper.
