Rep. Dan Goldman Defends Democrats After Colleague Rashida Tlaib’s Israel Response Backlash: ‘Fringe Parts of Many Different Parties’
The New York congressman declared his party is 'lockstep' on the Hamas attacks amid backlash to 'Squad' members' statements
Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., declared the Democratic Party is "in lockstep" with Israel when pressed on the controversial response to Hamas attacks from his colleague, "Squad" member Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.
In a Wednesday appearance on Fox & Friends, Goldman called for eliminating Hamas, which was behind hundreds of killings and kidnappings over the weekend, and equated the group to ISIS.
Fox News' Lawrence Jones pressed Goldman on Tlaib, who has received backlash for her response to the Hamas attacks on Israel.
Following the attacks, Tlaib released a statement blasting the United States for supporting an "apartheid government," referring to Israel. She said she grieved for both Israelis and Palestinians lost.
She and some other members of the progressive "Sqaud" in the House have faced backlash from both parties over ceasefire calls and criticism of Israel.
Tlaib's response has gotten more attention thanks to her remaining silent on Capitol Hill on Tuesday when Fox News reporter Hillary Vaughn asked her repeatedly to comment on Hamas killing babies and whether Israel has a right to defend itself.

Jones pressed Goldman on rallying support for Israel amid anti-Israel protests and statements from lawmakers like Tlaib.
Goldman insisted Democrats are behind Israel. He called out the "fringe" parts of both parties and praised "Squad" member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., for condemning antisemitism at a pro-Palestine rally in like New York.
"Look, there are fringe parts of many different parties. There are conservative marches in the South with swastikas all the time," he said.
The congressman condemned Hamas' actions as terrorism and said there is no question whether the Democratic Party stands.
"You can point to one or two different things, and I could point to many things on the right that many of my Republican colleagues say is ridiculous, that no; I don’t agree with that," he said. "The Democratic Party is in lockstep, shoulder to shoulder with Israel. We support them against terrorism. We support them to defend their own country and to continue to be our strong democratic ally in the Middle East."
