Conservative media company Project Veritas has lost its CEO after less than a year.

Hannah Giles announced on Monday that she is leaving her position, citing "strong evidence of past illegality and past financial improprieties."

"I am stepping down from all roles with Project Veritas and Project Veritas Action — effective immediately," Giles said in a statement. "Though I had hopes when I joined the organizations, I stepped into an unsalvageable mess — one wrought with strong evidence of past illegality and past financial improprieties."

Giles said she contacted the "appropriate law enforcement authorities" about the strong evidence she referenced.

Giles took over as CEO of Veritas earlier this year after O'Keefe departed the company. The co-founder was sued by his company over the messy exit after they accused him of breaking a contract clause with his public statements about leaving the company and starting another organization.

Veritas claimed in their complaint against O'Keefe that he was suspended for misusing organization funds and mistreated employees, leading to a probe in New York.

Giles told Breitbart News in August that employees had to be cut to the organization's financial situation.

"I'm a home-schooling mother of three," she said. "But, I couldn’t sit by and let the organization, our team, continue to fall into a financial condition that would block the mission."

Giles worked with Veritas for years. She took part in an undercover investigation series with O'Keefe in 2009 in which O'Keefe impersonated a pimp.
