Pro-Christie PAC Airs TV Ad Featuring Two GOP Favorites: Football and Reagan

The super PAC supporting Chris Christie will begin airing a football-themed TV ad in New Hampshire on Tuesday to mark the return of the NFL season.

The television ad draws parallels between the former New Jersey governor and the late Republican President Ronald Reagan because “the last time America faced such division, inflation, and a diminished role in the world, the nation turned to a Republican governor from a blue state, Ronald Reagan,” according to the Tell It Like It Is PAC.

The 30-second spot is backed by a $500,000 statewide ad buy.

“What I want to do for you is bring the skills that I had for eight years in New Jersey,” Christie says in the ad, which features footage from a televised town hall. “Look across from people who I don’t agree with to work with them to put touchdowns in the end zone.”

The commercial touts Christie’s fight as governor for pension reform against the public teachers’ union in New Jersey, along with eliminating the estate tax and capping property taxes. It is Tell It Like It Is PAC’s third TV ad of the campaign cycle, following a 30-second spot that prominently featured former President Donald Trump’s mugshot.

“Ronald Reagan used to say the guy who disagrees with you twenty percent of the time is not your 20% enemy. He’s your 80% friend,” Christie says in the commercial.

The ad comes just after Christie appeared in New Hampshire with former GOP Sen. Scott Brown as part of his “No BS” backyard barbecue series. The super PAC will host Christie for a town hall in Bedford, New Hampshire on Tuesday and another event in North Hampton next week.

Christie, Trump’s biggest critic in the primary field, has struggled to gain traction in national primary polls, although he’s performed slightly better in New Hampshire
