Former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden by seven points in the latest Messenger/Harris poll conducted by HarrisX.

The poll, conducted November 15-19 among 3,017 registered voters, found Trump led Biden, 47%-40%, while 13% were still undecided. Support for both Trump and Biden broke down predictably among partisan lines. But independent voters backed Trump, 45%-32%, with 23% undecided.

In a four-way race with independent candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cornel West included in the ballot question, Trump was at 40%, followed by Biden at 33%, Kennedy at 14%, and West at 2%. Eleven percent were still undecided.

A majority of voters think Biden (67%) and Trump (55%) should not run for a second term. However, only 25% of Republicans think Trump shouldn’t seek another term while 40% of Democrats think the same of Biden.

Trump maintains a big lead in the national Republican primary, leading his opponents with 62% support. Trailing far behind is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 11% and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley at 10%. Venture capitalist Vivek Ramaswamy earned 4% support. All other candidates were at 2% or less.

When asked who they would support if their preferred candidate were not available, 32% said DeSantis, 12% said Haley, 10% said Trump, and 10% said Ramaswamy.

In the national Democratic primary, Biden led with 65%, while 11% said they’d back someone else and 15% were unsure. Author Marianne Williamson was at 5%, while Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips, who recently launched his longshot bid, earned 4% support.
