Pelosi Says Trump Voters ‘Have To Make a Decision About Our Democracy’ in 2024
Pelosi warned that dictators 'recognize what they see' in Trump
Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Wednesday issued a warning about the stakes for democracy should former President Donald Trump be successful in his reelection bid.
"Nothing less is at stake in this election than our democracy," Pelosi said during an interview with MSNBC. "Democracy is a value, it's a principle, but it also translates to your kitchen table."
The former Speaker warned that dictators "recognize what they see in the former president," who recently vowed to prosecute critics and rivals if re-elected.
"I say that with all the respect in the world to the people who may have voted for the former president," Pelosi added. "But they have to make a decision about our democracy."
Trump remains the overwhelming GOP frontrunner for the Republican nomination, with former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis battling for the second place spot.
