Amid an influx of asylum seekers arriving in New York City, Mayor Eric Adams said he is considering putting "a few families families into Gracie Mansion," the mayor's official residence, the New York Post reported.

He said his staff is looking into whether the idea complies with "legal protocols."

"I am a big believer in leading from the front,” Adams said, after he floated the idea of paying New York residents to house migrants in their private residences earlier this week.

In March, officials said the city was sheltering more than 30,000 asylum seekers.
