GOP presidential hopeful and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum on Monday said he would not serve as former President Donald Trump's running mate should he become the GOP nominee.

Burgum also said he would not accept a cabinet position.

“Happy to do lots of other things," Burgum said during an appearance on CNN. "I [had a] fabulous 30 years in the private sector — a lot of opportunities there."

Support for Burgum has remained in the single digits in polling, while the former president has maintained a solid lead over the large number of primary opponents. The North Dakota governor has not vocally criticized Trump, who has in turn praised Burgum.
