NH Gov. Sununu Suggests He Would Vote for Trump if He Becomes GOP Nominee
Sununu has previously been critical of the former president calling him a 'three-time loser' and slamming Trump's previous visits to New Hampshire
GOP New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu in an interview release on Tuesday seemed to indicate that if the 2024 White House race comes down to President Biden and former President Donald Trump, he would be voting for Trump.
In a podcast interview with Puck’s Tara Palmeri, Sununu, who has yet to make an official endorsement for president, was asked if he would back Trump if it came down to it.
“I’m a Republican,” Sununu replied while dodging a direct answer on whether he would vote for the former president who is often a target of his criticism. “I just want Republicans to win; that’s all I care about.”
Sununu frequently hit the former president, calling him a "three-time loser" and slamming Trump's previous visits to New Hampshire, saying he was using "kooky talk."
“Did you see [Trump’s] last visit to New Hampshire? He was comparing himself to Nelson Mandela and talking about Jesus Christ being speaker of the House — it was kooky talk,” Sununu said earlier this month. “He sounds almost as bad as Joe Biden.”
Sununu conceded in the podcast interview that it is "more than likely" Trump will be the Republican nominee, "but it's not an absolute."
He emphasized that until Super Tuesday, the party has time to get another name in the ring against Trump for a one-on-one match.

“If you get to Super Tuesday and Trump runs the table, it’s over,” Sununu said. “But if you get to Super Tuesday and Haley or an alternative candidate is winning three or four states, then the whole paradigm changes. Now it becomes a one-on-one race.”
Sununu said there is still time for candidates to boost themselves by going door-to-door and garnering the votes of the American people.
“None of them have done a great job with a ground game here, knocking on doors, phones. That really does still work,” Sununu said. “I think you could see a significant movement in numbers for anyone who drops that ground game here in the next six weeks.”
The governor's endorsement announcement will come "in the next couple of weeks," he said, as he wants to give "110%" to the candidate he decides to back.
"If I get behind a candidate, I’m going to get behind a candidate," Sununu told Fox News Digital earlier this month while he hit the campaign trail in his state with presidential hopeful Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, and Ron DeSantis.
