A new poll from the St. Anselm College Survey Center found likely Republican primary participants backing former President Donald Trump in New Hampshire, with former United Nations ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley behind by 14 points.

The poll found that while Haley is still gaining on Trump, it's only by a single percentage point. The survey found Trump is in first place in New Hampshire with 45% of the voters saying they supported him. Haley polled at 31%.

But an Emerson College Polling/WHDH New Hampshire survey released Thursday found Haley gained 10 points to 28% in the state since its last survey in November, while former President Donald Trump lost ground. Trump was backed by 44 % among Republican primary voters in the Granite State, down from 49% in November, according to the poll.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis holds just 7% in the new Emmerson poll, unchanged from November.

The Emerson survey was conducted Jan. 8-10 among 751 New Hampshire Republican presidential primary voters and has a credibility interval of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

The St. Anselm center polled 1194 New Hampshire voters who were likely to participate in the Republican presidential primary on Jan. 8 and Jan. 9. With a plus or minus 2.8% margin of error.

A number of recent polls have found Haley closing the gap with Trump as the New Hampshire primary approaches, with at least one survey showing her within 4% of Trump.

The polls — including the St. Anslem and Emmerson polls — were taken before former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie dropped out of the race, and it's still unknown how that will affect the contests.

The Iowa caucus will take place on Jan. 15, while the New Hampshire primary will be held Jan. 23.
