Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., said she believes the Republican Party needs to include a woman on the 2024 presidential ticket during a Fox News interview Thursday.

“I do strongly believe, and I’ve said this from the beginning, that we need to have a woman on the ticket,” said Mace when asked if she was open to being Donald Trump’s vice presidential selection. “We need to have a woman that can reach out to independent voters and suburban women.”

It has been speculated by some in Trump's circle that Mace may be in consideration to be the former president's running mate if he wins the party nomination.

Mace said she was “flattered” by the idea of being the GOP vice presidential nominee but noted that “we’re a long way from that process.”

“We have months to go, it won’t be until next year until we know who even the nominee is and what that might look like in the future,” said Mace.
