New Jersey first lady Tammy Murphy raised $3.2 million in her first six weeks as a Senate candidate, marking the largest fundraising haul reported by a New Jersey candidate in their opening quarter.

That total surpassed fundraising totals reported her opponent Rep. Andy Kim, D-N.J., who reported raising $2.75 million during the first 14 weeks of his Senate campaign.

Per a press release, Murphy has $2,727,090 cash on hand and received contributions from the state's 21 counties — more than $120,000 cash on hand than Kim.

In a statement, Murphy said she is "humbled and energized" by the support she has received so far.

"Our extraordinary fundraising efforts highlight our broad coalition of support from every corner of the state, and I could not be more proud," Murphy said.

The New Jersey first lady entered the Senate race in November, launching a long-anticipated campaign. Kim declared his candidacy for the seat shortly after Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., who has not said whether he plans to seek reelection, was indicted on corruption and bribery charges.
