Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., on Monday said she is opposed to introducing a procedural motion to oust House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and she is also against efforts to expel Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla.

In a long thread posted to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Greene said a motion to vacate the speakership would give the "upper hand" to Democrats, while an attempt to expel Gaetz would "absolutely not be tolerated" by Republicans.

"Republicans need to get off the power trips, stop the absurd drama, remember who the enemy is, stop fighting with each other, and get serious about solving the problems that produce annual systemic failure," Greene said.

Gaetz said Sunday that he plans to introduce a motion to vacate the speakership as early as this week, citing McCarthy's decision to work with Democrats to pass a stopgap funding measure late last week. Meanwhile, some Republicans are reportedly considering measures to expel Gaetz, pending the results of a House Ethics Committee investigation.
