Montana Judge Blocks Ban on Transgender Procedures for Minors

A state judge on Wednesday blocked Montana's ban on transgender-affirming care for minors.

"The Court finds that [the law] likely does not survive strict scrutiny because it does not serve its purported compelling governmental interest of protecting minor Montanans from pressure to receive harmful medical treatments," wrote District Court Judge Jason Marks in his ruling.

"Alternatively, the Court finds that [the law] is unlikely to survive any level of constitutional review," Marks added.

This temporary block follows similar laws receiving the same treatment at the hands of the court in Kentucky, Georgia and other states.
