Erin DuPree, Minnesota's newly-appointed head of the state's Office of Cannabis Management, has sent a letter to Gov. Tim Walz, D, resigning from her position.

DuPree's resignation came after allegations surfaced on social media that she sold illegal products in Minnesota through her company Loonacy Cannabis Co.

In the letter, DuPree maintained that she has never knowingly sold any noncompliant product, and when she became aware of them she removed those products from the inventory.

"This is an industry I am passionate about, and care deeply for; my skills, experience and expertise made me the right person for this job at this moment," Dupree said. "Conducting lawful business has been an objective of my business career. However, it has become clear that I have become a distraction that would stand in the way of the important work that needs to be done."
