Marjorie Taylor Greene Snaps at Fellow Republican for Not Supporting Tlaib Censure

The Georgia lawmaker blasted Ken Buck for backing 'vaping groping' Lauren Boebert, but not her effort

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., is not happy her effort to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich, failed and she is lashing out at a fellow Republican for explaining his lack of support of the measure.

"You hate Trump, certified Biden’s election, and could care less about J6 defendants being persecuted," Greene wrote on X in response to Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, calling the censure measure "deeply flawed."

In a statement, Roy acknowledged Tlaib has "repeatedly made outrageous remarks toward Israel and the Jewish people" and said her actions could be "censure worthy."

Roy took issue with Greene's specific censure, including her accusing Tlaib of an "insurrection."

Greene claimed a protest on Capitol Hill where Tlaib spoke was equal to an "insurrection," noting some were arrested at the demonstration demanding a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. It's a description that a number of critics have dismissed, including CNN's Jake Tapper who described Greene's censure as seeming like it was "written by someone who seems to have learned about the Israel/Arab conflict maybe 10 minutes before."

"I voted to table the resolution. In January 2021, the legal term insurrection was stretched and abused by many following the events at the Capitol. We should not continue to perpetuate claims of 'insurrection' at the Capitol and we should not abuse the term now," Roy wrote.

Tlaib is a vocal critic of Israel and called for an end to the U.S. supporting their "apartheid" government following Hamas' attack. She also blamed a hospital blast that led to hundreds of civilian deaths on Israel, despite Israeli and U.S. intelligence pointing the blame towards a Gaza terrorist group.

In her response, Greene attacked fellow Republican Reps. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., and Ken Buck, R-Colo., who recently announced he's retiring from his congressional seat.

Greene referred to Boebert as "groping vaping Lauren Boebert" in reference to the congresswoman being booted from a play where security footage caught her vaping and groping her date at a family show.

"You voted to kick me out of the freedom caucus, but keep CNN wannabe Ken Buck and vaping groping Lauren Boebert and you voted with the Democrats to protect Terrorist Tlaib," Greene told Roy.

Greene's measure failed to pass in a 222-186 vote.
