Lindsey Graham Says ‘We Seem To Be Afraid of the Iranians’ After Biden Responds to US Troops Injured in Proxy Attacks
The South Carolina senator suggested bombing Iran's oil fields if they further escalate
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., is not impressed with President Joe Biden's warning to Iran over proxy attacks on American troops in Iraq and Syria.
Speaking at a Wednesday press conference, Biden said he would warn Iran's supreme leader that if there are attacks on U.S. troops, he should be "prepared" for a response.
"My warning to the Ayatollah was that if they continue to move against those troops, we will respond. And he should be prepared," Biden said.
The president's comments followed multiple attacks on U.S. troops and Secretary of State Antony Blinken warning there was a "likelihood of escalation" by Iran proxies amid the Israel-Hamas war.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin also released a statement referring to "recent escalations" by Iran against American personnel.
In a Thursday Fox News interview with John Roberts, Graham was asked about reports there have been multiple attacks on U.S. troops and more than a dozen injuries in Syria and Iraq.
"Trump had Iran afraid of America, now we seem to be afraid of the Iranians," Graham said, calling Biden's response not enough.

Graham argued he has no doubt Iran supported Hamas in their October 7 attack on Israel, something Biden and other officials have claimed there is no evidence of. A Wall Street Journal report shortly released after the attack cited Hamas officials and suggested their ally Iran was helping to plan the attack that took more than 1400 lives for weeks.
Graham called it "laughable" to believe Iran did not have direct involvement in the attack.
"Here's what I would do if I were president: I would tell the Iranians if there's one more attack on American troops in Syria and Iraq, we're coming after you. If Hezbollah goes into the north to start a second front in Israel, we're coming after you starting with your oil fields," Graham said. "If they believe that, they would not do this. "
