California attorney John Eastman will face disciplinary proceedings starting on Tuesday in Los Angeles over his role assisting former President Donald Trump with a plan to try to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Eastman is scheduled to testify in his defense during more than a week of trial-like proceedings before the State Bar of California and could have his license to practice law in the state suspended or revoked.

He is facing 11 disciplinary charges surrounding Trump's efforts to stop the certification of President Joe Biden's election victory in 2020. That includes arguments Eastman made in a memo to Trump that he could instruct then-Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the final results.

California's state bar announced its investigation into Eastman in March 2022.
