MSNBC's Joe Scarborough was not a fan of Fox News' town hall with Donald Trump, blasting it on Thursday as a "paid advertisement."

On Morning Joe, the former Republican congressman targeted moderators Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum for hosting what he deemed a "softball event."

"I would call it softball — a softball event. I've never seen one as fawning. I'm not even sure why they had two hosts there," he said. "You know, they could have just had one and just sit there and say, 'Smile and say, you're great."

Scarborough blasted Trump for comments on a number of issues, including abortion. The former president claimed during the town hall that Democrats want to "kill a baby," even after birth.

The Fox News competitor went further with his criticism of Baier and MacCallum, calling the moderators "absolute jokes."

"What did the Biden people do last night? They're just hanging out," Scarborough said. "They're probably laughing at all the Republican chaos and the debate and then laughing at the Fox News hosts, who were just absolute jokes."

Trump offered thanks to his Fox News moderators for doing a "professional job" after the event.

"The Town Hall last night received wonderful reviews. Thank you to Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum for doing a really professional job," the wrote on Truth Social.

The former president previously targeted Baier over an interview last year that he deemed "nasty."

Trump's Iowa town hall occurred the same night fellow 2024 GOP hopefuls Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley took part in a CNN primary debate.
