Hunter Biden on Monday filed a lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service alleging that its agents violated his privacy rights by disclosing his tax information and not properly protecting his private records.

“This assault on Mr. Biden’s rights involved the public disclosure of his confidential tax information during more than 20 nationally televised and non-congressionally sanctioned interviews and numerous public statements,” the lawsuit reads.

The president's son is seeking documents concerning the disclosure of tax information, $1,000 for each unauthorized disclosure and attorneys fees.

The Department of Justice has been investigating Biden for allegedly failing to pay his taxes on time in 2017 and 2018. Special counsel David Weiss' office has said it may bring tax charges against Biden in California or Washington, D.C.

The lawsuit comes just after the president's son was indicted on Thursday on three charges related to a firearm purchase. Biden previously reached a plea deal with prosecutors that would have seen him plead guilty to the firearm and tax charges, but that deal fell apart in July.
