Hayley, Sununu Dismiss Differences on Abortion: ‘It’s OK for Us to Have Those Differences’

'I respect that he's pro-choice. He respects that I’m pro-life,' Haley said about Sununu

GOP presidential hopeful Nikki Haley and New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, who just recently endorsed her, said on Wednesday that they respect each other's diverging views on abortion.

"I respect that he's pro-choice. He respects that I’m pro-life," Haley said on an interview on the campaign trail in Sununu's state. "That's OK. It's OK for us to have those differences.”

The governor agreed, calling Haley's the "best answer."

"It's not some scary thing that gets demonized that separates us apart," Sununu continued.

Haley was also asked about the recent Supreme Court decision to take up a case concerning access to the abortion drug mifepristone, which has been embroiled in multiple legal battles since the fall of Roe v. Wade last year.

"You know, that issue is not so much about abortion, but the fact that they have seen almost a 50% increase of those that take that drug end up in the emergency room, and they're four times more likely to have complications if they take that drug," Haley said. "So, I think it should be handled with a doctor, but I think it's good that they're putting the time in there to really say, is this safe?”
