Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday pledged that the U.S. would contribute $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund while attending COP 28, the United Nations' annual international climate summit.

Speaking from Dubai, Harris criticized political figures who "deny climate science" and corporations that "greenwash climate inaction."

"Today we are demonstrating through action how the world can and must meet this crisis," Harris said. "This is a pivotal moment."

The Green Climate Fund aids developing countries in combatting climate change. The U.S. previously contributed $2 billion to the fund.

The announcement comes after some developing nations criticized the U.S. at the conference earlier this week for not making a large enough contribution.
