GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley is receiving pushback from her GOP rivals after calling for name verification on social media platforms.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis called the idea “dangerous and unconstitutional” and said it was similar to an existing policy in China.

In a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, DeSantis said, “You know who were anonymous writers back in the day? Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison when they wrote the Federalist Papers.”

He added that they were not “national security threats” and neither are “the many conservative Americans across the country who exercise their Constitutional right to voice their opinions without fear of being harassed or canceled by the school they go to or the company they work for.”

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy also spoke out, calling Haley’s comments “disgusting.”

In a post on X, Ramaswamy said Haley is “*openly* pushing for the government to use private tech companies to censor speech.”

He called the policy a “flagrant violation of the Constitution” and “straight out of the Democrats’ playbook.” He added that “any politician who thinks it’s OK for the government to use the private sector as its censorship bureau shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the White House.”

The pushback from others in the field come one day after Haley called for everyone on social media to be verified by their name on Fox News.

She added that it’s a national security threat and “when you do that, people have to stand by what they say.” She added it would also get rid of bots from China, Iran, and Russia.
