GOP Threatens Shutdown or Biden Impeachment Without Evidence: House Democratic Caucus Chair
'This is a Donald Trump revenge tour that Republicans have signed on to lock, stock and barrel,' said Aguilar
House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., on Wednesday accused Republicans of threatening to shut down the government if President Joe Biden is not impeached during a press conference.
"The leaders of the House Republican Conference have made their demands clear," said Aguilar. "Impeach Joe Biden without evidence, or we'll shut down the government."
Aguilar said Republicans had done similar things in the past with Social Security and Medicare and are focusing on talking points and culture war issues instead of serious political matters.
"House Republicans have done nothing on the economy or public safety," said Aguilar. "Their only priority is to hurt Joe Biden politically and to help Donald Trump get re-elected. This is a Donald Trump revenge tour that Republicans have signed on to lock, stock and barrel."
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., announced the beginning of an impeachment inquiry Tuesday, alleging corruption in the Biden White House.
