GOP Strategist Karl Rove on Biden-Trump Rematch: ‘Worst Dumpster Fire of a Campaign in History’
According to Rove, the 'party that picks a fresh face will likely win' the 2024 election
GOP strategist Karl Rove said on Wednesday in a Wall Street Journal opinion piece that a matchup between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump would be "the worst dumpster fire of a campaign in history."
"Neither party’s front-runner will be easily dislodged," Rove wrote. "But if no changes are made, Americans will get the worst dumpster fire of a campaign in history."
The former White House Deputy Chief of Staff argued that the "party that picks a fresh face will likely win the White House."
Rove criticized the response by the Biden campaign to point to slight drops in the president's poll numbers, calling the reaction "predictable and anemic."
He also unfavorably compared voters' perception of Biden to Barack Obama's reputation when the former president was running for reelection.
"The public saw Mr. Obama as a strong leader—young, energetic, mentally sharp and a much better and more natural political talent than Mr. Biden," Rove wrote.
When it comes to the GOP frontrunner, Rove believes Trump's bellicose speech toward other members of the party could harm his campaign and divide voters.
