Sen. Mike Braun, R-Ind., is backing former President Donald Trump's 2024 bid to take back the White House.

"Donald Trump is a businessman and outsider," the senator told Fox News Digital. "Together, we took on the Washington swamp with a historic victory in the 2018 Indiana Senate race."

Braun, who is now running for governor of Indiana, applauded the former president for his conservative picks to the Supreme Court and said he's "capable of returning us to the America First policies that delivered unmatched prosperity and security for the American people."

Braun has been a vocal ally of Trump's, but he did not offer an official endorsement last month when he talked 2024 GOP hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy, noting the entrepreneur was "resonating" in a CNBC "Squawk Box" interview.

Braun's endorsement follows House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., saying on Sunday he fully expects Trump to be the 2024 Republican presidential nominee and blasted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, R, as "not on the same level."

"President Trump is stronger today than he was in 2016 or 2020 and there's a reason why. They saw the policies ... we didn't have inflation. we didn't have these battles around the world. We didn't look weak around the world," McCarthy said on "Sunday Morning Futures."
