Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., said on Wednesday "a lot of hurt feelings" are behind the delay in Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, becoming House Speaker.

On Tuesday, 20 Republicans did not support Jordan taking the top House spot, and he's now attempting to wrangle support before an expected round of voting on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Burchett is among Jordan supporters who ruffled the feathers of fellow Republicans by voting to oust Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., from the speakership. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., then made a brief run before Jordan.

"There's a lot of hurt feelings," Burchett said on Newsmax's Wake Up America ahead of Wednesday's vote. "We got to get on to running our country. This can't keep going in the direction it's going."

The Tennessee Republican said he's been asked if he's "sorry" he voted to oust McCarthy and he declared he "absolutely" does not regret being one of eight Republicans to remove the former speaker.

"This just exposed the dysfunction that we see everyday up here to the American public," he said.
