House Foreign Affairs Chair Michael McCaul, R-Texas, on Tuesday said that Rep. Jim Jordan, the GOP nominee for House Speaker, has assured him that financial aid for both Ukraine and Israel could be linked.

"I had a very good conversation with him. I was concerned about national security issues, particularly if we pass an Israeli supplemental national security bill, would Ukraine be included in that?" McCaul told CNN's Kate Bolduan. "And I was assured that he could link the two. He would look at the details of that, but that was very important to me."

McCaul also highlighted this was one of the reasons he felt more secure in Jordan's nomination — "If we don't have a speaker in the chair, we can't pass any of this stuff," he said.

The House is currently meeting to vote on Jordan's nomination.
