Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani owes $550,000 in unpaid income taxes, prompting the IRS to place a lien on his property in Palm Beach, Florida.

NBC News and The Daily Beast confirmed the report after obtaining a court filing.

According to the filing, if Giuliani refuses to pay the taxes from 2021, the IRS can take some of the revenue if he sells the place.

Financial records show he bought the $4.5 million penthouse just three miles away from former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in 2010 with his then-wife but became the sole owner after they divorced.

In a statement to The Messenger, Ted Goodman, an advisor to Giuliani, said Giuliani is "suing Joe Biden for defamation, and I get asked about a potential tax issue."

"You just can't make this stuff up. In any event, Mayor Giuliani—through his accountant—has a formal agreement with the IRS to pay off the liability."

The report comes amid reports Giuliani’s legal problems have become such a financial strain that he is having trouble paying his lawyer and the settlements in the Georgia election worker case.
