Giant George Santos Balloon Flying in Front of Capitol
The display comes as the Republican lawmaker is facing potential expulsion and criminal charges relates to campaign finances
A giant balloon featuring a likeness of Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., was flying in front of the Capitol on Tuesday.
Activists projected images and flew the balloon while holding signs calling for the expulsion of Santos from Congress. The effort was put on by the liberal group MoveOn.
Santos is facing a potential expulsion vote. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said this week it remains to be seen if there will be an actual vote in the coming days.
The expulsion effort against Santos followed an Ethics Committee report that found Santos used campaign funds for personal expenses. Santos also pleaded not guilty last month to federal campaign charges. The New York lawmaker is accused of using donors' credit cards and inflating donation numbers, among other things.

Santos said this week he's had "positive" talks with Johnson, but warned he would wear the rare expulsion as a "badge of honor," blasting his colleagues' alleged personal habits, like sleeping with lobbyists while saying he welcomes a vote.
"Expel me and set the precedent so we can see who the judge, jury and executioners in Congress are. The American people deserve to know!" he wrote in a Monday X message.
