California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) told the Associated Press there’s no way “on God’s green Earth” that he’s running for president in 2024.

Newsom has been asked about a potential 2024 run, most recently by Fox News’ Sean Hannity. The governor did not provide a specific yes or no at the time. His current term as governor will end in January 2027.

“Not on God’s green earth, as the phrase goes,” Newsom told AP about a potential run. The interview preceded him meeting Joe Biden on Monday as the president is making multiple fundraising stops in California.

Newsom said he’s working to promote Biden’s campaign.

“I have been pretty consistently — including recently on Fox News — making the case for his candidacy,” he said.

Newsom did continue his war of words with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has already launched his 2024 campaign and recently told Newsom to stop “pussyfooting around” with his constant digs and enter the race.

The two regularly trade barbs about their states and leadership, and Newsom predicted DeSantis will be “crushed” by Donald Trump and soon fall in the polls.

“He’s taking his eye off the ball,” the governor said. “And that’s not inconsistent with my own assessment of him, which he is a weak candidate, and he is undisciplined and will be crushed by Donald Trump, and will soon be in third or fourth in national polls.”
