Freedom Caucus Member Criticizes ‘Flimsy Excuse’ for Impeaching Biden

Freedom Caucus member Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., wrote an op-ed criticizing the effort to impeach President Joe Biden as based on a "flimsy excuse."

"Republicans in the House who are itching for an impeachment are relying on an imagined history," wrote Buck in the Washington Post. "It’s a neat story, and one that performs well in certain media circles. But impeachment is a serious matter and should have a foundation of rock-solid facts."

Buck compared the effort to impeach Biden to the 2019 impeachment of former President Donald Trump, which Buck opposed as "a disgrace to the Constitution and a disservice to Americans."

But, Buck argues, the "GOP’s reprise in 2023 is no better."

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., announced an impeachment inquiry into Biden Tuesday, saying Republicans have "uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden's conduct."

The impeachment inquiry is based on alleged ties between Biden and his son Hunter's business dealings.
