Former US Ambassador to Israel Calls for Netanyahu To Resign: ‘Clear and Present Danger’
The former ambassador labeled Netanyahu a 'danger' to the US' relationship with Israel
Former U.S. ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk on Sunday called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resign.
In a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, the former ambassador labeled Netanyahu a "danger" to the U.S.' relationship with Israel.
"His determination to stay in power no matter the cost is a clear and present danger to Israel. He needs to resign … yesterday," Indyk wrote.
The former ambassador's comments came after the New York Times reported Sunday that Netanyahu was aware of and encouraged Qatar to funnel millions of dollars a month to Gaza, where the money aided in propping up Hamas' government before the militant group's Oct. 7 attack on Israel.
Indyk served twice as ambassador to Israel under former President Bill Clinton's administration, and worked under former President Barack Obama's administration as U.S. Special Envoy for Israeli–Palestinian Negotiations.
