Former GOP Strategist Rick Wilson Victim of ‘Swatting’ Attempt

There have been a surge of swatting attempts against public officials and political pundits in recent weeks including against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. and Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows

Former Republican strategist and and Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson says he has "survived" another swatting attempt.

"Just survived another swatting attempt," Wilson posted to X, formerly Twitter. "The team from the @LeonSheriff was absolutely professional and courteous and I’m sorry someone wasted their time trying to get me and my loved ones killed."

There have been a surge of swatting attempts against public officials and political pundits in recent weeks. Swatting is the act of make a false police call prompting emergency service response to a private residence or business.

Since Christmas Day, when a slew of swatting incidents against local and federal politicians occurred at their private homes, there have been calls from individuals like the Georgia Secretary of States Brad Raffensperger for lawmakers to pass anti-swatting legislation.

Recent swatting incidents have occurred at the home and businesses of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. and her daughters, Special counsel Jack Smith, Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, Rep. Brandon Williams, R-N.Y., and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.
