Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., on Tuesday suggested that former Speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., was lying about not pushing Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., after a GOP conference meeting earlier in the day.

“Kevin McCarthy and lying are like peanut butter and jelly,” Buck said in an interview with CNN.

Buck went on to suggest the California Republican was still "obviously very upset" about being ousted from the speakership in October. Burchett was one of eight Republicans who voted with Democrats to remove McCarthy from the role.

"He doesn’t hold any leadership position now," Buck continued. "He is a rank-and-file Congressman like me, and it’s got to be upsetting to him. And so he took it out, in the way he took it out, and now he denies it."

McCarthy has denied Burchett's allegations and maintained that it was a "tight hallway," telling CNN that if he "hit someone, they would know it."
