Boebert District Switch a Case of ‘Blantant Self-Preservation,’ Says Colorado Secretary of State
The GOP congresswoman cited her choice switch districts as the 'right decision for the conservative movement,' in a post on Facebook
Colorado's Democratic Secretary of State Jena Griswold on Thursday slammed Rep. Lauren Boebert's, R-Colo., decision to switch congressional districts on Thursday, accusing her of "self-preservation."
"I think Lauren Boebert's actions are blatant self-preservation," Griswold said during an appearance on MSNBC. "She knows that she has failed the citizens of her district. She has failed to deliver Coloradans on the Western Slope on issues that matter to them. She has failed to deliver legislatively."
Boebert announced on Thursday that would change from running for Congress in the state's 4th congressional district to replace retiring Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., rather than run in the 3rd congressional district against Democrat Adam Frisch who has significantly out-fundraised her in the race.
The GOP congresswoman cited her decision as the "right decision for the conservative movement," in a post on Facebook. Boebert also said it would be a "fresh start" for her campaign amid a year full of "personal mistakes" and "humbling and challenging" experiences.
Griswold continued: "There's scandal after scandal after scandal. So I do think this is her trying to hold on to power, and ultimately we will see how the primary plays out in this new district which, by the way, is literally on the opposite side of the state from where she currently serves as congresswoman."
The Colorado Secretary of State is likely referring to a recent groping and vaping incident involving Boebert at a local production of the musical "Beetlejuice," where the congresswoman and her boyfriend were removed from the theatre.
