Billionaire grocery store mogul John Catsimatidis is talking to investors about a possible purchase of CNN, according to an interview with Daily Mail.

Catsimatidis, who is an investor in The Messenger, is offering to take control of CNN and draw an annual salary of just $1.

"I don't even want to get paid. If they want to bet on me and share my success and make a ton of money, I'll do it now," he told Daily Mail.

The billionaire said he could push CNN to an average of two million viewers within 12 months, referencing the ratings success he had with the WABC (AM) station.

"I bought WABC three years ago, and we brought it from number 28 in the marketplace to the top two or three in the city," he said.

Catsimatidis blasted former CNN head Jeff Zucker for taking the network "into the sewer."

Since Zucker left the network after revealing an affair with the network's executive vice president, Chris Licht was brought in to steer the ship. However, after a rocky 13 months in the job which included a controversial Donald Trump town hall and a number of longtime hosts and reporters being fired, Licht was out too.

Catsimatidis has since been throwing his hat in the ring to take over the struggling network amid rumors of a potential sell-off.

Catsimatidis' criticism of Zucker's leadership follows a New York Post report claiming the former network head is potentially putting together plans of his own to make a bid to purchase CNN from Warner Bros. Discovery.

Catsimatidis also recently launched a "Save AM Radio" campaign in response to car manufacturers announcing they would be dropping AM radio from their vehicles. The billionaire has run ads for the campaign, which include former Vice President Mike Pence.
