President Joe Biden on Friday spoke with the families of 14 Americans who are unaccounted for in Israel following the Hamas attack on the country carried out on Saturday, causing a war along the Gaza Strip.

Biden also reportedly spoke with National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Hostage Envoy Roger Carstens, Undersecretary of State John Bass, and Latin al Security Council Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk, according to the White House.

So far, there have been at least 27 Americans killed of the violence in the Middle East. Since Hamas' attack over the weekend, over 1,000 Israelis have been killed and in Israel's retaliation efforts over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed. Many remain missing or injured.
