The percentage of Americans who approve of the job Joe Biden has done as president is currently 39%, according to a new CNN poll.

The number is driven down by respondents feeling on the economy with 58% saying they think his policies are making economic conditions worse in the U.S. That number is up 8 points since last fall, according to CNN.

Seventy percent of respondents said that they think things are not going well in the nation and 51% of survey takers said the government should be doing more to solve the country's problems.

Just 28% of respondents said that they think Biden inspires confidence, down from 35% in March, according to CNN.

Fifty-eight percent of respondents said they have an unfavorable view of the president while just 33% said they are proud to have him as president.

Despite those numbers, 67%, think that Biden will be the Democratic presidential nominee for 2024 despite 67% of survey takers saying they think the party should consider nominating someone else.

When asked to name their concerns about Biden doing his job, age remained a top item with 49% saying it was a concern. Seven percent mentioned mental acuity and 7% mentioned health.

As for the impact of Biden's age on the election, 60% of Democratic-aligned voters think it will affect his ability to win in 2024, 56% think it could negatively affect his physical and mental competence, and 61% said it could impact his ability to serve a full four-year term if reelected.

However, some Democrats have stood by Biden on other things. A vast majority, 81%, believe Biden cares about them.

This CNN poll was conducted by SSRS from Aug. 25-31 including a random sampling of 1,503 adults. The margin of sampling error for this poll is plus of minus 3.6 percentage points.
