Biden And His Cabinet Embark on Cross-Country Tour to Sell ‘Bidenomics’
It's part of a revamped effort to pitch voters on the president's economic vision
President Joe Biden and members of his Cabinet are hitting the road this week as part of a revamped attempt to pitch Americans on the administration's economic vision.
The cross-country tour comes after Biden delivered a speech in Chicago outlining his economic accomplishments in office and his future plans, which the White House has called "Bidenomics." The president and his aides have framed the platform as an alternative to the "trickle-down" economics Republicans have offered.
“You aren’t done hearing about Bidenomics," White House communications director Ben LaBolt said. "Following his major address in Chicago, the President, Vice President, Cabinet members, and senior Administration officials will continue to make a full-court press on Bidenomics this week—highlighting how the President’s economic plan is investing in America and increasing competition to lower costs for hardworking families.
Starting Wednesday, Biden and top officials in his administration are set to travel to key president battleground states such as Michigan and Arizona, red states such as South Carolina and Ohio, and blue states like California and Vermont.
The White House faces an uphill climb in selling their message to voters, as polls have consistently found that the public disapproves of how Biden has handled economic issues. And while the unemployment rate is low, inflation has remained stubbornly high and the long-term economic forecast remains uncertain.
