Eric Hovde, a private banking CEO is rumored to be entering the 2024 Senate race in Wisconsin to challenge the seat currently held by Democrat Sen. Tammy Baldwin, the National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“Eric Hovde is gonna get in that race,” NRSC Chair Steve Davies, a Montana Republican, told the Sentinel's Lawrence Andrea. "We're behind him."

Hovde has not yet officially announced his candidacy and is reportedly "continuing to talk with supporters and is looking forward to spending time with family and friends over the holidays," a source close to the matter told the Sentinel.

The businessman previously lost a bid to former Gov. Tommy Thompson in the 2012 GOP Senate primary.

Baldwin is a two-term incumbent in the race and seen as a formidable opponent, especially since Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., has rescinded his Senate bid.
