Viral List of Songs, Artists Banned From Restaurant’s Kitchen Includes ‘Any ’90s Rock With the Exception of Incubus’
Just to drive the point home, Nickelback appeared again on the list at number nine
A list of 17 artists and types of music banned from one commercial kitchen has gone viral online, prompting users to try to figure out what
The list of banned music was recently reposted on Reddit, where it racked up over 1,000 comments from people trying to wrap their heads around the very particular list and sharing their own experiences with music banned in the workplace.
Atop the list of music forbidden was Nickelback, an enduring musical punching bag despite the band’s mainstream success.
Just to drive the point home, Nickelback appeared again on the list at number nine.
“Including Nickelback twice is still not enough,” one Reddit user commented. Others suggested the list was not complete without adding one more against the reviled Canadian rock band.
The number two and three spots went to Staind and Borgore, respectively.

Interestingly, the entire genre of country music was outright banned in number four.
At number eight, the list-writer took another swing at Borgore with the rule: “No overly vulgar language or subject matter (that’s two rules against Borgore)”
The censure of Borgore drew surprise from people in the comments, mostly that the list creator even knew of the Israeli electronic dance music producer, DJ, and singer-songwriter.
“Lmao how much Borgore are y’all playing that chef learned who he is,” one user wrote.
Another user agreed and said “I don't think I have met anyone who knew who he was let alone had an opinion on his music. Not my kind of music but still a very strange mention.”
The list also banned Coldplay, Post Malone, Miley Cyrus, Green Day, “mumble rappers,” and “anyone who has a tattoo on their face.”
The creator of the list had some bad experiences with specific songs, as “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars was banned, in addition to “any remix” of “Funkytown” by Lipps Inc. and the “The Friends Theme Song” (aka “I’ll Be There For You” by the Rembrandts).
Several users criticized the mere existence of the list.
“I'm a stickler about my ultimatum with music in the kitchen. It's either all ok or none of it's okay. Vulgarity aside, it's kind of like a social contract, I tolerate your music so long as you tolerate mine,” one user wrote.
“Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley also made it on the list, surprising no one.
