Discovery of 5-year-old Zoey Felix’s Lifeless Body After Rape and Murder Detailed in New Police Report
The Topeka police report revealed that Felix’s father, Ezequiel Felix-Guerrero, was present at the scene where she was found unresponsive
A police incident report recently revealed a few new details about the death of Zoey Felix, a 5-year-old girl who was allegedly found raped and murdered on Tuesday.
The offense that led to Zoey’s death was listed as capital murder in the Topeka Police incident report which was obtained by 13 News.
Zoey was allegedly assaulted and killed by a family friend at the homeless camp where she lived after her mother reportedly kicked her and other family members out of their house.
The Topeka police report revealed that Zoey’s father, Ezequiel Felix-Guerrero, was present at the scene where she was found unresponsive.
Two other individuals, a 19-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, were also present at the scene, but their names were redacted in the report. It is unknown whether they are related to the girl.
Computed-Aided Dispatch (CAD) notes provided to the news channel stated that the initial 911 call was made at 5:55 p.m. local time on Monday, reporting that an unresponsive child was found next to the gas pumps at SE 29th and California Ave. Dillons store.
An EMT crew arrived nearly 2 minutes later after the 911 call and started CPR before taking Zoey to the hospital. Ambulance crews called the Topeka Police at 6:21 p.m. to the hospital over suspected abuse of the child who was pronounced dead at 6:39 p.m.

The CAD notes also stated that authorities moved their investigation to the north end of Dillons where they blocked a field there with crime scene tape until after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The girl’s death sparked outrage among the community who were furious that state officials didn’t intervene more in her life. Topeka police were called for a welfare check at the home on September 5.
Mickel Cherry, a 25-year-old homeless man from Topeka, was arrested Tuesday in connection to Zoey's death. He is facing charges of suspicion of murder in the first degree and rape and he is set to appear in court on October 12.
The girl reportedly knew Cherry who lived with her at the Market Street home before they both moved to the homeless camp with Zoey’s father and her teenage sister. Court documents show Cherry as an “off-grid person” with no prior criminal record in Kansas.
