An 89-year-old Boston man was killed on Monday when a powerful winter storm caused a tree to fall on his trailer.

Hanover Police responded to a report of a large tree falling onto a small travel trailer, leaving a man trapped inside, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said on X.

Responding police and fire officials were able to rescue the man, later identified as Robert Horky, from the trailer. Horky was taken to South Shore Hospital with severe head trauma. He later died from his injuries.

"He was a great man. He was nice to us all the time, a great landlord," Bill Thistle, who rented property from Horky and knew him for over a decade, told WCVB.

Horky's death remains under investigation, according to the district attorney's office.

A powerful storm brought heavy rain, strong winds and flooding to areas across the Northeast on Monday.

A man from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania was pronounced dead after being found in a submerged vehicle.

The storm left thousands without power. Over 450 flights were delayed and 100 were canceled in the U.S., mostly in the Northeast, by noon on Monday.
